Although this area of practice constitutes the majority of medical SLPs’ caseload, formal education is minimal. One area that is often overlooked is pharmacology. This course describes the basic mechanisms of medications inducing dysphagia and common medications responsible for this issue. It also identifies different medications that could be labeled as clinical signs of dysphagia, so that an effective rehab program can be achieved.
