Upper Quadrant PENS

This intermediate level course for PT/PTAs and OT/OTAs on patterned electrical neuromuscular stimulation (PENS) is part of a series of Accelerated Clinical Practice courses. Through a combination of lecture and lab demonstration this course provides the attention necessary to achieve proficiency in the use and application of functional and neuro re-education PENS to muscles in the Upper Quadrant. The course includes a review of literature regarding muscle activation, physiology research, and functional outcomes associated with PENS applications. Additionally, the course covers the impact of PENS on physiological impairments and how it contributes to improved patient participation, activity, and functional performance.
