Neuro Rehab Task Practice
Neuro Rehab Professional EventsThis one-hour intermediate level course for PT/PTAs and OT/OTAs is part of a series of Accelerated Clinical Practice courses. Motor learning in neurorehabilitation leverages the effects of neuroplasticity for the acquisition and modification of movement. Task-specific practice within motor learning should be focused primarily at the activity/participation levels to support function and improve occupational performance. This course reviews motor learning mechanisms, with a focus on incorporating knowledge of performance, knowledge of results, use-dependent learning, and sensorimotor adaptation into task practice. There is additional emphasis on clinical strategies for the foundational principles of neuroplasticity. The course includes case studies with sample application of task practice using motor learning to reinforce the course content and support the therapist’s critical thinking.
