About this course:
This course is offered for ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level, Professional area). This intermediate level course for SLPs provides overview of common myths surrounding swallowing, dysphagia rehabilitation, and the scientific basis for therapeutic interventions. The course also includes practical successful application of surface EMG and provides participants an opportunity for a question and answer session.

Frailty Series - Preventing Adverse Outcomes
This course provides an overview of available interdisciplinary team (IDT) best practice to improve quality of care and prevent adverse outcomes for frail older adults. IDT approaches include comprehensive geriatric assessment, evidence-based practice and best practice tools, expanded rehab services, strong communication among IDT members, and resident and caregiver education. Clinicians should be aware of unique patient goals in order to integrate timely palliative and hospice care as well as a comprehensive plan for transitions of care.

This three hour course is intended to provide clinicians with the most current in-depth information with respect to fall prevention, assessment and treatment using biophysical agents in conjunction with therapeutic exercises, balance and ADL training. The course materials and clinical protocols prepare the clinician to design and implement skilled, evidence-based rehabilitation programs for the patient populations at risk for falls.
